Psychology software tools E-Prime has two editions, the professional and standard edition. To install any of these E-Prime editions users should have the following minimum requirements: Pentium 4 1.8 GHz processor, DirectX graphic card, 512 MB of RAM and USB port. This software is exclusively for windows operating system (winxp SP3 32 bit, win7 SP1 and winVista SP1 32 bit or 64 bit). This was developed by Psychology Software Tools Inc. to fill the need of experiments to be documented in the users systems. This can synchronize data, export files and play digital movies. The formats it supports are AVI, MPEG and WMV. For images, it supports bmp, jpeg, tiff, emf, tif, wmf, png and jpg. E-prime can play multiple audio file formats including mp3 and wma. It has user-friendly functions like drop and drag, copy and paste images between experiments, voice recording, and supports enhanced controllers (Parallel Port Devices, Network Socket and Joysticks).
One of the E-Prime's suites of applications is the E-Studio. This allows you to make experiment designs using graphical interface by easily dragging or dropping object to the procedural time lines. Series of E-Objects comprises the experiment, which has a set of specific properties in determining the behavior of each object. The available E-Objects include: Procedure which act as a timeline for events during the experiment; TextDisplay which presents a full screen of text; ImageDisplay which allows presentation of images in multiple formats like .bmp, .jpeg, .png, .tif, .jpg, .tiff, .gif, .wmf, and .emf; Movie Display which presents movies in .avi, .wmv, and .mpeg formats; Slide which presents combination of text, images and sound; List which contains controls the sampling of independent variables, attributes and stimuli; SoundOut that presents files in .wma and .mp3; SoundIn where you can record audio; FeedbackDisplay of visual/audio; and InLine that controls experiment by inserting user-written E-Basic.
