The ODA Consortium Toolkit is a tool that allows users to open and view ODIF files wherein these files may contain documents created using a word processor and other documents that are non-text like photos and digital images, etc. This application works as an assistant to individual suppliers when it comes to the production and distribution of relevant applications needed by specific industries that the customers are involved in. This toolkit has interworking features that allows different hardware and operating systems to be connected with each other. This tool is also composed of an API interface that enables the representation of a document through ODA; as well as it also features a document formatter responsible for the implementation of ODA layout process so that formatted documents can be produced from the ones that can be processed. This tool also contains other useful features such as the Postscript generation and this feature allows the production of Encapsulated PostScript files. In short, the ODA Consortium toolkit allows users to develop programs easily especially those applications that make use of the ODA standard.

This is a rare format which was developed in the late 90's in Canada. DSG Arachne Software Library can open the .odif in text or in image formats. This format was considered high standards at that time. This software can view the Formatted .odif, the Formatted Processable and the Processable . ODIF. The .odif formats was deliberately to become universal and interchangeable, such is the work of DSG Arachne Software Library. Similar to .odif file is the PDF file we have now. The Formatted file can't be edited by DSG Arachne Software, while the Formatted and the Processable can be edited by this software.
