KGB Archiver is a file archiver and data compression utility based on the PAQ6 compression algorithm. PAQ is a lossless data compression that means the exact original data can be constructed from compressed data. This type of compression is normally used when it is important that the decompressed data is the same as the original, for example in executable programs and source codes. The application uses ten levels of compression, from the very weak to maximum that is more than that found in most other compression software. It supports native .kgb and .zip files and is able to create self-extracting files. It uses AES-256 encryption to protect files. KGB Archiver is released free and open source under the terms of the GNU General Public License. The minimum requirements for the program are a 1.5 GHz processor and 256 MB RAM. It requires a platform supported by Microsoft Windows, Linux, and other Unix-like operating systems.
