Workshare Compare is a document comparison engine that streamlines the review process for text-based Word or PDF documents by identifying document changes. The technology in this tool allows users to compare a document against multiple versions accurately, from each character, word, line, or paragraph. It allows simultaneous comparison of more than two documents and produces a 3-panel view that automatically identifies and highlights what has changed in each document version. Comparison types like Word-to-Word, Word-to-PDF, and PDF-to-PDF are allowed, including comparison of Microsoft Excel tables imbedded in a Microsoft Word Document. Its time saving feature allows users to choose the category for comparison, for example numbering, punctuation, and spelling corrections. After completing document review, the comparison may be saved as a Workshare Compare DeltaFile (.wdf). The DeltaFile will contain all three documents (original, modified, and redline). If only the redline document is of particular interest, it can be saved as a PDF, DOC/ DOCX, TXT, RTF, or HTML file. The recommended hardware to run the application is an Intel Core 2 DUO processor with 2.2 GHz AMD Athlon, 64 x2 4400+2GB RAM, and 2GB free disk space. It runs on systems powered by Microsoft Windows XP SP3, Windows 7 and 7 SP1 (32 bit and 64 bit) with default UAC, and Vista SP2 (32 bit and 64 bit) with the UAC disabled.
