It features SendStuffNow, a file transfer and storage service that can store up to 2 GB worth of files that can be shared through email invitations for downloading files. It also features SmartSend that can send large files through e-mail. The small files are automatically compressed then attached into a new email message, and larger files are uploaded into a secure website though the SendStuffNow.com, which permits access for downloading files from any location. The software supports plug-ins that allows direct access of StuffIt from any application such as Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office. Allume Systems Stuffit Expander is a program that allows the accessing of StuffIt files and uncompressing of files in Zip archives. There are two types of this program, StuffIt Expander for Windows and StuffIt Expander for Mac. StuffIt Expander for Windows has two basic functions and those are to open both Zip and StuffIt X archives. This runs on Windows 7, Windows XP and Windows Vista, as well as Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. On the other hand, StuffIt Expander for Mac has additional basic features aside from opening Zip and StuffIt X archives. It also opens other types of archives, which are 7Zip archives, RAR archives, TAR archives, and Encrypted Zip archives. As a matter of fact, there are 75 more archive formats that are supported by this version of StuffIt Expander. The original developer of this program is Allume Systems but in 2005, the company was obtained by another company called Smith Micro Software, which now becomes the official publisher of the new versions of the software.
