Microsoft Windows Operating System platforms mostly used files with .ANI extension, a graphic file format used for animated mouse cursors, which are also defined as Windows Animated Cursor. These files have the same functions with CUR file format or better known as the Static Cursor; its distinction is that being an animated cursor with the use of strings of images to show animation. The format is based on the Microsoft RIFF file format, which is utilized as storage for keeping the individual frames, which are typical Windows icons of the animation. This OS can open a list of file formats from Microsoft offices (.doc,) to PDF (.pdf), photos (.jpg, .png, .gif) to audios or videos (.wav, .mpeg, .mp3) and others. It is also compatible with a variety of standard devices and peripherals like printers, scanners, cameras (webcam and digital cameras).
Linux Mint is an application that was designed to serve as a GNU or Linux system, and the common set of features that are integrated into many GNU and Linux system versions are also implemented into this OS distribution. Certain functionalities have been added to Linux Mint in order to provide users with more customization options and easier to navigate or simpler to operate panels and feature OS sections. Linux Mint has also been implemented with wider compatibility support for new Linux applications. Some users install Linux Mint or another GNU/Linux distribution version in their computers as an alternative system, since Microsoft Windows is already installed and selected as their primary system in the same machine, because this allows them to access different applications that only work with either Microsoft Windows platforms, or GNU/Linux distributions.
