CARA loudspeaker editor from Rhintek, Incorporated is a component of CARA (Computer Aided Room Acoustics), a suite of advance programs for computing and optimizing room acoustics. The Loudspeaker Editor allows customization of loudspeakers based on frequency response, crossover and dispersion information. It locates the optimum listening positions and speaker placement based on the room dimension, interior furnishing, and other room details fed into the software. Optimization of room acoustics is done by using a database of measurement data for loudspeakers from different manufacturers. The nominal impedance, frequency range, dimensions of the enclosure, sensitivity, and the size of the drivers and ports are used to compute the SPL response of each loudspeaker, and the results are used by the optimization engine. The Loudspeaker Editor supports modeling of loudspeakers with a Crossover Network of up to 5 ways. For loudspeaker customization, users must specify the loudspeaker type, nominal impedance, and the impedance response that is frequency dependent. This application requires a Pentium (or compatible) processor and MS Windows 95/98/ME or NT 4.0/2000 operating system. The hard disk should have a capacity greater than 500 MB, with at least 64 MB RAM.
