what is a .clm file?

MagicJack call log files are data files used by the magicJack software, and these files are appended with the CLM extension. These CLM files are created by the magicJack application to store details of received, missed and outgoing phone calls done through an associated magicJack USB device connected to the computer. The data stored in these CLM files are updated by the magicJack software when a recent phone call has been received or missed, or if an outgoing phone call is done by the user. The magicJack software can also be used to delete the data in these CLM files for the application to be capable of storing newer data in these CLM files. YMAX developed the CLM file format and the magicJack software, and also manufactures magicJack USB phone devices that can be connected to computers with Mac or Microsoft Windows-based systems. This means users of these platforms can install the magicJack software and use the associated phone device to implement support into their systems for these CLM files.

a word of warning

Be careful not to rename the extension on .clm files, or any other files. This will not change the file type. Only special conversion software can change a file from one file type to another.

what is a file extension?

A file extension is the set of three or four characters at the end of a filename; in this case, .clm. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs can open it. Windows often associates a default program to each file extension, so that when you double-click the file, the program launches automatically. When that program is no longer on your PC, you can sometimes get an error when you try to open the associated file.
