what is a .nmp file?
The NMP file extension is known as the NewsMaker Project File which was developed by EyePower Games. It is a file format associated by NewsMaker, a program used by students to create news stories or presentations. It is saved in a plain text XML format and contains a listing of news stories files (.sty extension) and video clips, which store the student's story recorded using a webcam in the software. When NewsMaker projects are finished, they are published to a video file that is shared with teachers and classmates. Files in NMP format can be opened with EyePower Games NewsMaker in Microsoft Windows and Mac OS platforms. NewsMaker has been shortlisted as one of the finalists of the prestigious CODiE Awards 2011. It gives students the opportunity to improve their language skills by planning, writing, and publishing a video news report. They write their own news story within the software and the computer serves as teleprompter. Several schools in Singapore use the program for their English classes.

Eye Power Games Newsmaker
Eye Power Games Newsmaker
Newsmaker is an educational interactive program developed by EyePower Games that enhances the students’ productive communication skills: writing, reading and publishing. First step of the activity requires the student to create a story. This is the “write†stage. Second step, the student reads the story aloud while being recorded through a Webcam in the software. This gives the students the opportunity to assess themselves by correcting their own mistakes and working on areas that need polishing by referring to the video record. They can rehearse until they achieve the desired output for their project. Visual effects are also provided to add more interest and fun. Additional effects are available for download. Final step is to publish. The student plays the video clip as a recorded file to be shared to teachers, classmates, friends and family. This recorded file is in the format NMP [NewsMaker Project File]. EyePower Games Newsmaker can run on Mac OS or Windows system.
Be careful not to rename the extension on .nmp files, or any other files. This will not change the file type. Only special conversion software can change a file from one file type to another.
what is a file extension?
A file extension is the set of three or four characters at the end of a filename; in this case, .nmp. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs can open it. Windows often associates a default program to each file extension, so that when you double-click the file, the program launches automatically. When that program is no longer on your PC, you can sometimes get an error when you try to open the associated file.
