Have you ever seen the below error code (80072EFD) when trying to install updates on your Windows 7 or Windows 8 PC? You’re not alone. We were recently contacted by a friendly guy named Reg from California who was getting this error when trying to update his computer running Windows 8.1.
Turns out that it was ESET firewall that had been blocking Windows update on his computer. Once he disabled the ESET firewall the updates worked with no problems. The strange thing is that Windows Firewall was enabled and did not cause any issues.
So if you are seeing this message try disabling (temporarily) the firewall for the internet security software you have installed. As an extra precaution I would recommend making sure that the Windows Firewall is enabled.
